The Ohio Chapter is the first State Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigation, receiving its charter in 1960. All Ohio members are extremely proud of this distinction.  Please visit us often to find out what's new! Join the best fire investigation professionals in the world by sharing educational benefits, resources and camaraderie.

IAAI does NOT send notification to members for recertification of CFI. This is the members obligation. PLEASE MARK your calendars to give enough time to renew prior to expiration of your certification!!

Hello Ohio Chapter Members,

My name is Scott Bennett and I am your new chapter president for the term of 2009-2010. I have been an active member of the IAAI since May of 1982. I am retired from the City of Dayton Fire Department where I was assigned to the Regional Fire/Arson Investigation Unit. As a full time fire/explosion investigator I maintained a commission as a Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff until my retirement in 2004. I now am a partner with Fire Investigation Services and continue to stay active in the origin and cause industry. I’m married with 2 children and still reside in Dayton, Ohio. As your president, I’m available any time to take your emails and/or calls regarding our chapter. Remember, Ohio didn’t get the title of being Chapter #1 for sitting by and watching everyone else. We are a large organization and we will continue to grow.  First, I would like to say thank you to all of you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you for the past 2 terms as the board of directors and the past 2 years as second and first vice president.

As your 2009-2010 president for the Ohio chapter I will continue to work hard on recruiting new members, training and education, and to maintain a fiscally sound budget.

One of my many goals this year is to increase our membership by 50 new members. I want to encourage the law enforcement folks to join or chapter and I also want to keep up our training to our members.

For the past 2 years I have been the Ohio CFI chairperson and have witnessed our members growing more and more as “CFI’s”. I support the IAAI-CFI program and would like to see more of our members obtain that title.

I have spoken to your First Vice President Brian Peterman and your Second Vice President Keith Loreno and all have agreed to work on the “one day seminars” around Ohio. As president, I would like to get back to holding ½-1 day seminars and charging a very small fee for those who attend. (Free is even better). We have a lot of talent from around Ohio within our membership who would be more than willing to share their knowledge, expertise, and experience with us in the field of fire/arson investigations.

Best regards,

 Scott Bennett, IAAI-CFI
